Abū Ḥafṣ al-Ṣaghīr
Manāqib Abī Ḥanīfa
Beyond the Oxus, Bukhara and Samarkand became major centres of Hanafi learning. Scholars did more than transmit Iraqi books: they developed teaching traditions and works of their own. Al-Maturidi’s activity in Samarkand illustrates the region’s importance for theology as well as law.
This atlas groups Transoxiana with nearby Khwarazm for browsing, while retaining each work’s catalogue location. The grouping makes it possible to follow connections between Bukhara, Marghinan and Khwarazm without assuming that every author worked in the same city or political territory.

بهاء الدين نقشبندBahāʾ al-Dīn NaqshbandThe catalogue’s earliest work is attributed to Abu Hafs al-Saghir in Bukhara. Al-Sabadhmuni and al-Zaranjari then offer extensive material on Abu Hanifa and his circle. Their reports can be read with named transmitters and edition references, allowing close comparison of repeated stories and different chains.
Al-Zamakhshari and al-Makki extend this regional picture into Khwarazm. Follow the source network to see which earlier collections later writers used. A regional label describes a work’s placement in this catalogue; it does not mean that all the people or reports within it originate there.
