حدثنا عمرو بن عاصم، قال: سمعت محمد بن يزيد قال:اختلفت إلى عامر بن الفرات، وكتبت منه فقال لي يومًا: نظرت في كتب أبي حنيفة فقلت له: أنا أطلب الحديث فما أصنع بأبي حنيفة فقال لي: ما أراك تفلح أبدًا طلبت أنا الآثار قريبًا من تسعين سنة فلم أحسن الاستنجاء حتى نظرت في كتب أبي حنيفة.

ʿAmr ibn ʿĀṣim related to us. He said: I heard Muḥammad ibn Yazīd say: I used to visit ʿĀmir ibn al-Furāt and write down from him. One day he said to me: “Have you studied Abū Ḥanīfa’s books?” I replied: “I seek reports. What would I do with Abū Ḥanīfa?” He said: “I do not think you will ever succeed. I sought transmitted traditions for nearly ninety years, yet did not properly understand cleansing after relieving oneself until I studied Abū Ḥanīfa’s books.”
حدثنا محمد بن همام، قال: حدثنا محمد بن يزيد، قال: حدثنا عامر بن الفرات، قال: حدثنا أبو حنيفة، عن سالم الأفطس، عن سعيد بن جبير رحمة الله عليهم قال:صحبت ابن عمر رضي الله عنهما إلى مكة، فبصر بحدأة على ظهر بعير، فرماها وهو محرم.

Muḥammad ibn Hammām related to us. He said: Muḥammad ibn Yazīd related to us. He said: ʿĀmir ibn al-Furāt related to us. He said: Abū Ḥanīfa related to us, from Sālim al-Afṭas, from Saʿīd ibn Jubayr, may God have mercy on them, who said: I accompanied Ibn ʿUmar, may God be pleased with them both, to Mecca. He spotted a kite on a camel’s back and threw at it while he was in the consecrated state of pilgrimage.

He said: Abū Ḥanīfa related to us, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm, from al-Aswad, may God have mercy on them, who said: I prayed behind ʿUmar for two years and never saw him perform the qunūt supplication in the dawn prayer.
حدثنا الربيع بن الحسان الكسّي، قال: حدثنا موسى بن نصر، قال: سمعت عامر بن الفرات يقول:جلست إلى أبي حنيفة أول ما جلست، وأنا عند نفسي أني كملت في العلم، فسمعت كلامًا تصاغرت إلى نفسي ولزمت مجلسه أشهرًا، فتوجهت لشيء من ذلك وارتفع عني ما كنت أجده من الدل.

Al-Rabīʿ ibn al-Ḥassān al-Kassī related to us. He said: Mūsā ibn Naṣr related to us. He said: I heard ʿĀmir ibn al-Furāt say: When I first sat with Abū Ḥanīfa, I thought I had attained complete knowledge. Then I heard discourse that made me feel small in my own eyes. I attended his gathering for months, gained some understanding of it, and lost the self-assurance I had felt.
حُدّثت عن أحمد بن عبد الملك، قال: حدثنا سهل بن محمد، قال: حدثنا عامر بن الفرات، قال: حدثنا أبو حنيفة، عن حماد، عن إبراهيم رحمة الله عليهم،أنه قال في الزوج والمرأة: أنهما بمنزلة ذي الرحم في الهبة.

He said: Abū Ḥanīfa related to us, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm, may God have mercy on them, That he said concerning husband and wife: In the matter of gifts, they have the status of a blood relative.
