My father related to us. He said: Abū ʿAbd Allāh Muḥammad ibn Aḥmad ibn Ḥafṣ related to us. He said: Abū Wahb Muḥammad ibn Muzāḥim related to us. He said: Bukayr informed us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, God have mercy on him, that when ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib, God be pleased with him, appointed the two arbitrators between himself and Muʿāwiya ibn Abī Sufyān, he wrote the agreement: “This is what ʿAlī ibn Abī Ṭālib and the believers and Muslims with him, and Muʿāwiya and the believers and Muslims with him, have agreed upon.”
