Muḥammad ibn ʿImrān al-Hamdānī

Muḥammad ibn Qudāma al-Zāhid al-Balkhī related to us. He said: Muḥammad ibn ʿImrān al-Hamdānī related to us. He said: Al-Qāsim ibn al-Ḥakam al-ʿUranī related to us. He said: Abū Ḥanīfa related to us, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm, from ʿAlqama—God have mercy on them—from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, God be pleased with him, that the Prophet, God bless him and grant him peace, added to or omitted from his prayer. When he gave the salutation, some of his companions asked him: “Has something new occurred in prayer, Messenger of God?” He asked: “What is that?” They replied: “We saw you add to it or omit from it.” He said: “I am only a human being; I forget as you forget. When I forget, remind me.” Then he faced the prayer direction, performed the two prostrations of forgetfulness, recited the testimony during them, and gave the salutation to his right and to his left.
