Ismāʿīl ibn Bishr related to us. He said: Ibn al-Rammāḥ related to us. He said: Ḥafṣ ibn ʿAbd al-Raḥmān related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from Qays ibn Muslim, from Ṭāriq ibn Shihāb, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, may God be pleased with him: The Messenger of God, God bless him and grant him peace, said: “God, mighty and majestic, has sent down no disease without sending down a remedy for it, except death and old age. Take cows’ milk, for they mix their feed from every kind of tree.”
The feminine plural verb in the final clause refers to cows; the Arabic speaks elliptically of their varied feeding.
