عبد الله بن الجراح

Al-ʿAbbās ibn Ḥamza al-Naysābūrī related to us. He said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Jarrāḥ related to us. He said: ʿAbd al-Khāliq ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭahmān related to us. He said: My father related to me, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā, from someone who related to him from Ibn Masʿūd, may God be pleased with him, who said: The Prophet, God bless him and grant him peace, said to him: “Recite the sūra of the prescribed shares.” He recited Sūrat al-Nisāʾ. When he reached “How will it be when We bring a witness from every community and bring you as a witness against these?” [al-Nisāʾ 4:41], he gestured to him with his hand: “Stop.” The Prophet, God bless him and grant him peace, wept profusely. Then he said: “Repeat it.” He recited from the beginning until he reached this passage, and he wept again. ʿAbd Allāh stopped. He did this three times.

Al-ʿAbbās ibn Ḥamza related to us. He said: ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Jarrāḥ related to us. He said: ʿAbd al-Khāliq related to us. He said: Ibrāhīm ibn Ṭahmān related to me, from Abū Ḥanīfa, who said: I heard Ḥammād say: “If a man divorces his wife before consummation and then has intercourse with her, thinking that he is entitled to take her back, she is entitled to a dower and a half: half a dower on account of the divorce, and a full dower on account of the intercourse.”
