حدثنا إبراهيم بن علي بن الحسن الترمذي، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن القاسم البغدادي، عن سليمان بن منصور، عن حجر بن عبد الجبار، قال:ما رأى الناس أحداً أكرم مجالسةً من أبي حنيفة رحمة الله عليه، ولا أشدّ إكراماً لأصحابه منه.

Ibrāhīm ibn ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan al-Tirmidhī related to us: Aḥmad ibn al-Qāsim al-Baghdādī related to us, from Sulaymān ibn Manṣūr, from Ḥujr ibn ʿAbd al-Jabbār, who said: People have never seen anyone more generous to sit with than Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—or anyone who honored his companions more.
حدثنا أحمد بن الليث البلخي من خيران، قال: حدثنا عبد الصمد بن الفضل، قال: حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي خيثمة، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن منصور، قال: سمعت حفص بن غياث، يقول:كنت إذا سمعت من شيخ حديثاً عرضته على أبي حنيفة، فيصرّف الحديث مصارفه ويبيِّن لي معناه.

Aḥmad ibn al-Layth al-Balkhī, from Khayrān, related to us: ʿAbd al-Ṣamad ibn al-Faḍl related to us: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Khaythama related to us: Sulaymān ibn Manṣūr related to us: I heard Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth say: Whenever I heard a report from a shaykh, I presented it to Abū Ḥanīfa. He would explain its different applications and clarify its meaning for me.
حدثنا أحمد بن الليث البلخي، قال: حدثنا أبو بكر بن أبي خيثمة، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن منصور، قال: سمعت حفص بن غياث، يقول:كنت أقلل الاختلاف إلى سفيان، لأنه كان لا يعجبه اختلافي إلى أبي حنيفة رضي الله عنه، ومجالستي معه، فكان إذا رآني ثبطني عنه، فأقللت الاختلاف إليه.

Aḥmad ibn al-Layth al-Balkhī related to us: Abū Bakr ibn Abī Khaythama related to us: Sulaymān ibn Manṣūr related to us: I heard Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth say: I reduced my visits to Sufyān because he disliked my visiting Abū Ḥanīfa—may God be pleased with him—and sitting with him. Whenever he saw me, he discouraged me from him, so I reduced my visits to him.
حدثنا أحمد بن الليث البلخي، قال: حدثنا ابن أبي خيثمة، قال: حدثنا سليمان بن منصور، قال: حدثني علي بن هاشم، عن أبي حنيفة، عن الهيثم، عن الشعبي، عن مسروق رحمة الله عليهم، عن عبد الله رضي الله عنه، أنه قال:ارتعوا في رياض الجنة، ثم قال: وتدرون ما رياض الجنة؟ حِلَق العلم والفقه، لا حِلَق القُصّاص.
