حدثنا أبو العباس أحمد بن محمد الكوفي، قال: حدثنا عبيد بن حمدون، قال: حدثنا الحسن بن طريف بن ناصح، قال: حدثني أبي، عن محمد بن زيد بن علي:أن أبا حنيفة بعث إلى زيد بن علي بمال، فقال: استعن بهذا على حربك وما أنت فيه وأَعِن به ضعفاء أصحابك.

Abū al-ʿAbbās Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Kūfī related to us. He said: ʿUbayd ibn Ḥamdūn related to us. He said: al-Ḥasan ibn Ṭarīf ibn Nāṣiḥ related to us. He said: My father related to me, from Muḥammad ibn Zayd ibn ʿAlī: Abū Ḥanīfa sent money to Zayd ibn ʿAlī and said: “Use this to help you in your war and the situation you are in, and use it to help the needy among your companions.”
أخبرنا أحمد بن محمد الكوفي، قال: حدثنا عبيد بن حمدون الرؤاسي، قال: حدثنا حسن بن طريف بن ناصح، قال: حدثني أبي، عن أبان بن عثمان البجلي، قال:قال أبو حنيفة: لا تُقروا لهم بالولاية، فإنكم إن أقررتم خصمتم.

Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad al-Kūfī informed us: ʿUbayd ibn Ḥamdūn al-Ruʾāsī related to us: Ḥasan ibn Ṭarīf ibn Nāṣiḥ related to us: My father related to me, from Abān ibn ʿUthmān al-Bajalī, who said: Abū Ḥanīfa said, ‘Do not acknowledge authority for them, for if you acknowledge it, you will be defeated in argument.’
The Arabic does not identify ‘them’ or specify the context of wilāya, rendered here as ‘authority.’
