I heard Sahl ibn Bishr say: I heard al-Fath say: al-Hasan ibn Ziyad and ʿAbd al-Razzaq met in Mecca. Al-Hasan ibn Ziyad asked ʿAbd al-Razzaq about a report concerning pilgrimage rites that al-Hasan had heard from Ibn Jurayj but was uncertain about. ʿAbd al-Razzaq related that report from Ibn Jurayj just as al-Hasan used to relate it from Ibn Jurayj. Al-Hasan ibn Ziyad said to him: I thought the error had come from me, but the error is from some people. Then they discussed some of Abu Hanifa's statements. At the end, as they were about to part, ʿAbd al-Razzaq said to al-Hasan: Abu ʿAli! Had I been granted as much sitting with Abu Hanifa as you were granted, it would be dearer to me than the mountains of Tihama in livestock.
The unspecified 'some people' and the closing livestock comparison are retained without identifying a group or adding a quantity.
