Raqaba

Abū Jaʿfar Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Ḥafṣ al-Khathʿamī al-Kūfī related to us. He said: Aḥmad ibn Budayl related to us. He said: Jarīr related to us. He said: Raqaba sometimes asked me about Abū Ḥanīfa’s view. He knew that I used to attend him. I have heard that he visited Abū Ḥanīfa more than once.

ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn Saʿd related to us. He said: Aḥmad ibn Budayl related to us. He said: Abū Muʿāwiya related to us. He said: Raqaba envied Abū Ḥanīfa and was not one of his men.

Ibrāhīm ibn [ʿAmrūs] al-Hamdānī related to us. He said: al-ʿAbbās ibn Yazīd al-Baḥrānī related to us. He said: I heard Ibrāhīm ibn Yazīd ibn Mardānba say: I heard Raqaba say: Abū Ḥanīfa plunged into knowledge in a way no one had preceded him in, and attained what he sought.
