حدثنا أحمد بن محمد، نقال: حدثني عمر بن إبراهيم، قال: حدثنا عمران بن بكار، قال: حدثنا عقبة بن سعيد، قال: حدثنا إسماعيل بن عياش، عن أبي حنيفة، عن حماد، عن إبراهيم، عن علقمة، عن عبد الله رضي الله عنه قال: مَن شاء حالفته: أن سورة النساء القصرى نزلت بعده.

Ahmad ibn Muhammad related to us; he said: ʿUmar ibn Ibrahim related to me; he said: ʿImran ibn Bakkar related to us; he said: ʿUqba ibn Saʿid related to us; he said: Ismaʿil ibn ʿAyyash related to us, from Abu Hanifa, from Hammad, from Ibrahim, from ʿAlqama, from ʿAbd Allah, may God be pleased with him; he said: Whoever wishes, I will swear against him that the shorter sura about women was revealed after it.
The printed نقال is treated as a typographical form of قال in the transmission formula. The pronoun 'it' and the descriptive sura reference are retained without expansion.
