حدثنا العباس بن حمزة النيسابوري، قال: حدثنا أبو سعيد الأشج، قال: حدثنا إبراهيم بن محمد بن مالك، عن أبي حنيفة رضي الله عنه، قال: لقد لزمت حماداً لزوماً ما أعلم أن أحداً لزم أحداً مثل ما لزمته، وكنت أُكثر السؤال فربما تبرَّم مني، ويقول يا أبا حنيفة! قد انتفخ جنبي وضاق صدري.

Al-ʿAbbās ibn Ḥamza al-Naysābūrī related to us: Abū Saʿīd al-Ashajj related to us: Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn Mālik related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa—may God be pleased with him—who said: I stayed so constantly with Ḥammād that I know of no one who stayed with anyone as I stayed with him. I asked many questions. Sometimes he grew impatient with me and said, ‘Abū Ḥanīfa, my side has swollen and my chest has tightened!’
