Ashʿath ibn Abī al-Shaʿthāʾ

Ṣāliḥ ibn Abī Rumayḥ al-Tirmidhī wrote to me. He said: ʿAlī ibn ʿAbd al-Ṣamad al-Ṭayālisī related to us. He said: Abū Bakr ibn Khālid related to us. He said: al-Faḍl ibn al-Faḍl related to us. He said: Misʿar related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from Ashʿath ibn Abī al-Shaʿthāʾ, from Abū Wāʾil, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Masʿūd, may God be pleased with him, who said: I heard the Messenger of God, peace and blessings be upon him, say: The pen has passed over the wretched and the fortunate; creation, provision, and the appointed term have been settled.
