ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Shurayḥ related to us. He said: My father related to us. He said: Ḥibbān ibn Mūsā informed us, from ʿAbd Allāh, from Abū Sufyān, from Abū Ḥanīfa, The same.
وقد حدثنا محمد بن الحسن، عن أبي سفيان، عن أبي حنيفة، عن حماد، عن إبراهيم، عن الأسود رحمة الله عليهم:أن عمر رضي الله عنه كان يقول للكاتب: ترّب الصحيفة، فإن ذلك أعظم للبركة وأقضى للحاجة.

Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan related to us, from Abū Sufyān, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm, from al-Aswad, may God have mercy on them, That ʿUmar, may God be pleased with him, used to say to the scribe: “Dust the sheet, for that brings greater blessing and better accomplishes the purpose.”
