حدثنا محمد بن القاسم البلخي، قال: حدثنا أحمد بن عبدة الضبي، قال: كان الفضيل ربما ذكر أبا حنيفة رضي الله عنه وأصحابه رحمة الله عليهم بغير الجميل، وكان إذا وقعت له مسألة سألهم، وإذا سئل عن مسألة دل عليهم.

Muḥammad ibn al-Qāsim al-Balkhī related to us. He said: Aḥmad ibn ʿAbda al-Ḍabbī related to us. He said: Al-Fuḍayl sometimes spoke unkindly of Abū Ḥanīfa, may God be pleased with him, and his companions, may God have mercy on them. Yet when a legal question arose for him, he asked them, and when he was asked a legal question, he directed people to them.
