He said: Al-ʿAlāʾ ibn al-Ḥuṣayn informed me, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from Ibrāhīm ibn Muḥammad ibn al-Muntashir, from his father—God have mercy on them—from Anas ibn Mālik, God be pleased with him, who said: The Messenger of God, God bless him and grant him peace, never extended his knees in front of someone sitting with him. No man sat with him and he then rose before that man rose. He never shook a man’s hand and withdrew his hand before the man withdrew his. I have never smelled a fragrance more pleasant than the fragrance of the Messenger of God, God bless him and grant him peace.
