حدثنا عبد الله بن عبيد الله، قال: حدثنا خلف بن الحارث أبو علي، قال: حدثنا أبو نعيم الفضل بن دُكين، عن إسماعيل بن عبد الملك بن أبي الصفيراء، قال: قال أبو حنيفة لمحمد بن علي: أخبرني ما قال علي في عمر رضي الله عنهما حين أتي بجنازته؟ قال: قال: إن أحب الناس إليّ أن ألقى الله بصحيفته اليوم هذا المسجَّى بين أظهركم.

ʿAbd Allāh ibn ʿUbayd Allāh related to us: Khalaf ibn al-Ḥārith Abū ʿAlī related to us: Abū Nuʿaym al-Faḍl ibn Dukayn related to us, from Ismāʿīl ibn ʿAbd al-Malik ibn Abī al-Ṣufayrāʾ, who said: Abū Ḥanīfa said to Muḥammad ibn ʿAlī, ‘Tell me what ʿAlī said about ʿUmar—may God be pleased with them both—when his funeral bier was brought.’ He said: He said, ‘The person whose record I would most like to meet God with today is this man lying shrouded among you.’
