I heard al-ʿAbbās ibn ʿAzīz al-Qaṭṭān al-Marwazī say: I heard Bishr ibn Yaḥyā say: I said to ʿAbd Allāh ibn al-Mubārak: ‘You included Abū Ḥanīfa’s and Sufyān’s views in your books, but not Mālik’s and al-Awzāʿī’s?’ He said: ‘Because I did not consider them scholars.’
