Aḥmad ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ related to us. He said: I heard al-Ziyādī say: I heard al-Faḍl ibn Dukayn say: We were with Zufar ibn al-Hudhayl when a man came and said: ‘I heard al-Thawrī say that the shortest interval between two menstrual periods is fifteen.’ Zufar said: ‘Did he say that?’ He said: ‘Yes.’ He said: ‘That was not his view. Abū Ḥanīfa’s view, may God have mercy on him, was conveyed to him, and he adopted it.’
The Arabic gives the number fifteen without an explicit unit; the translation does not insert one.
