Najm al-Hamdānī (father of ʿUbayd; printed “أبيه”)

Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad related to us: ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn al-Walīd ibn al-Qāsim al-Hamadhānī related to us: ʿUbayd ibn Najm al-Hamadhānī related to me, from his father, who said: Al-Ḥasan ibn Ṣāliḥ was told that Ḥafṣ ibn Ghiyāth visited Abū Ḥanīfa. One day he came to greet him, and al-Ḥasan said, ‘Why do some people turn away from al-Nakhaʿī’s knowledge and take up something else?’ Ḥafṣ’s expression changed.
