Aḥmad ibn Musabbiḥ al-ʿUmarī

Informed us: Aḥmad ibn Muḥammad ibn Saʿīd; he said: related to us: Muḥammad ibn ʿUbayd ibn ʿUtba; he said: related to us: Aḥmad ibn Musabbiḥ al-ʿUmarī; he said: related to us: Ḥammād ibn al-Walīd, from Abū Ḥanīfa and Abū Burja al-Kindī—may God have mercy on them—from ʿAṭāʾ ibn Abī Rabāḥ: He used not to make an exception when declaring his faith.

An exception refers to qualifying the statement of faith with “if God wills”; it does not refer here to excluding someone else from faith.
