حدثنا علي بن الحسن بن عبدة، قال: حدثنا معروف بن منصور، قال: حدثنا أبو سعيد الطائفي، قال: مرّ أبو حنيفة رضي الله عنه بسكران، فعثر عليه فافترى عليه السكران، فوقف عليه أبو حنيفة رضي الله عنه من بعيد، فقال: لا فرَّج الله عني حين أقول لمثلك: أنت مؤمن حقاً.

ʿAlī ibn al-Ḥasan ibn ʿAbda related to us. He said: Maʿrūf ibn Manṣūr related to us. He said: Abū Saʿīd al-Ṭāʾifī related to us. He said: Abū Ḥanīfa, may God be pleased with him, passed a drunken man and stumbled against him. The drunken man reviled him. Abū Ḥanīfa, may God be pleased with him, stood at a distance from him and said: “May God grant me no relief when I say to someone like you: ‘You are truly a believer.’”
The printed prayer لا فرج الله عني is retained in the negative, rather than changed to a blessing or a different doctrinal statement.
