حدثنا أحمد بن أبي صالح، قال: حدثنا محمد بن شجاع، قال: حدثني يحيى بن أيوب العابد، قال: حدثنا ابن السماك، عن أبي حنيفة، عن الهيثم رحمة الله عليهم، عن أنس رضي الله عنه، قال: قال رسول الله ﷺ: «من صام يوماً في سبيل الله جعل الله بينه وبين النار بصوم ذلك اليوم خندقاً بُعده خمسمائة سنة».

Aḥmad ibn Abī Ṣāliḥ related to us: Muḥammad ibn Shujāʿ related to us: Yaḥyā ibn Ayyūb the worshipper related to me: Ibn al-Sammāk related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from al-Haytham—may God have mercy on them—from Anas—may God be pleased with him—who said: The Messenger of God—God bless him and grant him peace—said: ‘Whoever fasts a day in God’s path, God places between him and the Fire, through that day’s fast, a trench whose distance is five hundred years.’
