Aḥmad informed us: ʿAbd Allāh ibn Aḥmad ibn Mustawrid related to us: ʿAlī ibn Mukannaf related to us: My father related to me, from Ibrāhīm ibn al-Zibriqān, who said: One day I was with Misʿar when Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—passed us. He greeted him, stopped beside him, then went on. Someone said to Misʿar, ‘Abū Salama, how many opponents Abū Ḥanīfa has!’ Misʿar straightened up and said, ‘Get away [from me]! I have never seen him dispute with anyone without getting the better of him.’
