حدثنا محمد بن إبراهيم بن زياد اللؤلؤي، قال: حدثنا محمد ابن عبد الله بن نمير، قال: حدثني ابن إدريس، عن أبي حنيفة رحمة الله عليه، عن فراس، عن الشعبي، قال: سمعت رجلاً من أصحاب النبي ﷺ ورضي عنهم، قال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ، يقول: «الميت مرتهنٌ بدينه حتى يُقضى عنه دينُه».

Muḥammad ibn Ibrāhīm ibn Ziyād al-Luʾluʾī related to us: Muḥammad ibn ʿAbd Allāh ibn Numayr related to us: Ibn Idrīs related to me, from Abū Ḥanīfa—may God have mercy on him—from Firās, from al-Shaʿbī, who said: I heard a man among the Prophet’s companions—God bless him and grant him peace, and may He be pleased with them—say: I heard the Messenger of God—God bless him and grant him peace—say, ‘The deceased is held in pledge by his debt until his debt is paid on his behalf.’
