Jaʿfar ibn ʿAwn said: A woman brought a valuable garment to sell. Abū Ḥanīfa said: “It is worth more than that.” The price reached nine thousand, and he still said it was worth more. She asked him to buy it for ten thousand, and he did. He could initially have bought it for two thousand. He said: “They bring goods to us because they think well of us and hope to find honesty and mindfulness in us.”
