حماد بن قيراط الخراساني

Muḥammad ibn al-Ḥasan al-Balkhī related to us. He said: Muḥammad ibn Shujāʿ related to us. He said: Ḥammād ibn Qīrāṭ al-Khurāsānī related to us, from Abū Ḥanīfa, from Ḥammād, from Ibrāhīm, may God have mercy on them, from Hammām ibn al-Ḥārith, from ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim, who said: I asked the Messenger of God, God bless him and grant him peace: “Messenger of God, we send out trained dogs, and they catch game for us. May we eat what they catch?” He said: “If you send trained dogs and mention God’s name, eat what they catch, provided no other dog joins them.” I asked: “Even if it kills?” He said: “Even if it kills.” I asked: “Messenger of God, one of us shoots with a blunt hunting shaft; may we eat?” He said: “[If] you shoot, invoke God’s name, and it pierces, eat. If it strikes with its broad side, do not eat.”
