Manuscripts and editorial sources
The following account follows the editor’s introduction; these are not independently verified library catalogue records.
- 531 AH: Süleymaniye, Şehid Ali Paşa collection, no. 1867; 129 folios, 15 lines per page.
- 563 AH: Manisa, no. 1342; 97 folios, 21 lines per page; described as copied in the Great Mosque of Aleppo.
- 605 AH: Fatih collection, Istanbul; 54 folios, 25 lines per page.
- An undated copy: Atıf Efendi, no. 1784; 103 folios, 20 lines per page. The editor labels it by a possession/collation note dated 914 AH; 914 is not an established copying date.
- Baktāsh states that he could not access the later Egyptian Dār al-Kutub copy mentioned in the earlier editorial history.
Editorial method
Baktāsh describes choosing readings across the available manuscripts, rather than reproducing one fixed copy, and recording significant differences. Manuscript labels in his notes use the dates 531, 563, 605 and 914 AH.
His presentation adds punctuation, paragraph divisions, selected vocalization and local numbering. Numbering restarts by section; scholar-entry numbers are not automatically report numbers.
He supplies short explanations, biographical references and selected dates, and briefly traces approximately 25 Prophetic hadiths. These modern editorial additions are distinguished from al-Ṣaymarī’s text in the atlas.
A larger manuscript comparison is valuable, but does not make every reading certain. The atlas only displays report-level comparisons after checking the corresponding passages in both supplied scans.
