Manuscripts and editorial sources
The following account follows the editor’s introduction; these are not independently verified library catalogue records.
- The introduction describes using photographs of the Istanbul manuscript numbered 1867, associated with the Şehid Ali Paşa collection, making a copy and comparing it with the photographed original.
- It describes arranging further comparison with an Egyptian Dār al-Kutub copy through Muḥammad Zāhid al-Kawtharī. This scan does not provide enough information here to assign that copy a verified shelfmark.
Editorial method
Al-Afghānī’s editorial account describes copying, comparison and correction, with assistance from al-Kawtharī and Abū Bakr Muḥammad al-Hāshimī. The notes include supplied words and alternative readings.
The retained introduction is signed by al-Afghānī in 1394 AH. Its date is distinct from the supplied second edition’s publication in 1985.
The title page identifies ʿĀlam al-Kutub as the publisher. This supplied scan is not a Dār al-Kutub al-ʿIlmiyya publication. Its concluding page also preserves a copyist’s colophon, separately from the author’s conclusion.
